Here at Fantastic Books and Where to Find Them, we strive to keep all of our reviews as fair and objective as possible. We also want our readers to know what our review policies are so that they’re not taken by surprise and know what to expect each time they read one of our reviews.
The following outlines our blog’s Book Review Policy and explanations for some of our other types of posts, such as Fandom Fridays, Book Quotes, Character Duels, Top Tens, Stories, Polls, Challenges, Contests, Book News, Reader Feature, and We Respond. At the bottom we have also included the regular posting schedule.
Book Review Policy
Rating System: Out of 10 stars
Scale: 0 stars – This book is complete trash and it’s not worth glancing at.
1-3 stars – This book is really, really bad.
4-6 stars – This book is mediocre.
7 stars – This book is pretty good, but it has some flaws.
8 stars – This book is really good!
9 stars – This book is AWESOME!!!
10 stars – This book is the best book ever and it is perfect and ASDFGHJKL
Age Range: We will display the age range of the book, ranging from Children (0-12) to Teen (13-17) to Adult (18+). These are recommended ratings provided by our authors and are based on the content of the book.
Genre: If applicable, we will list the genre(s) of the book.
Plot Tagline: To start off our review, we will write a sentence that sums up the book. For example, a tagline for Rick Riordan’s The Lightning Thief could be Greek gods and heroes come to life in the 21st century. This also serves as the post excerpt.
Spoilers: We will always alert our readers to any potential spoilers in our book reviews. Read the reviews at your own risk!
All of our main Site Authors participate in our Fandom Friday posts, which are collectively written by all four of our main authors.
Fandom Fridays are, of course, fandom-related posts, such as:
- Pictures/Memes/Fan Art
- Rants/Pet Peeves
Every Saturday, we will post 4 book quotes at these times:
- 10 a.m. (Tully)
- 3 p.m. (90937)
- 5 p.m. (Kitty Queen)
- 8 p.m. (Ardyth)

Our Site Authors will sometimes write stories and share them with our readers. They can either (1) update a page where their story will be added upon, (2) write a scheduled (weekly, daily, etc.) post with their story in the post, or (3) do both options 1 and 2.
There is not really a format for writing stories, so the way our Site Authors want to write and archive them is at their own discretion.
Every Monday, we will have a book-related poll for all of our readers. It will be featured in a post and will be displayed on the sidebar widget area. On Friday, we will reveal the final results of the poll.
From time to time, Fantastic Books and Where to Find Them will take on challenges, such as reading or writing challenges. We may make the guidelines up on our own, modify existing challenges, or do some challenges exactly by the book. Some challenges may be part of the regular posting schedule, such as a book review challenge. So far, we have not done any challenges.
Challenges may not be part of the regular posting schedule. (Depends on the type of challenge)
From time to time, Fantastic Books and Where to Find Them will have contests for our readers! Whenever we do, we will have a post or series of post outlining the rules and guidelines as well as any possible prizes. Once the contest is finished, we will also post the results. So far, we have not had any contests.
Contests are not part of the regular posting schedule.
Since we’re all bookworms here, we all need to know the latest book news. That’s what we’re here for!
From time to time, if we find out that there’s any need-to-know news, we’ll have a special post for it. In addition, if you know any important dates we should keep track of, feel free to let us know via the Contact page.
Book News is not part of the regular posting schedule.
Reader Feature is a type of post where we give shout-outs to you, the reader! It may be a group or individual appreciation, but whatever it is, know that we value you. Thank you!
Reader Feature is not part of the regular posting schedule.
When we get comments/feedback/questions from the Contact page, we typically respond to them via other posts such as Book Reviews. However, if your comment doesn’t fit into any category, we respond to it using the We Respond posts.
We Respond is not part of the regular posting schedule.
Regular Posting Schedule
The following table shows our regular posting schedule. A slash ( / ) indicates that the site author will not post on that day (unless that author has a special post that is not part of the regular posting schedule). We will do our best to follow through with this schedule, but we site authors do have other priorities. We thank you for your patience.
